To be or not to be

Updated: Nov 8, 2020

I watched The Social Dilemma. It left me feeling tense and uneasy and hopeless that day. Even if we are given a good thing born of the best of intentions, some of us still want to figure out the worst possible, most twisted and sadistic ways to profit from it with no consideration for other beings. Collateral damage doesn't faze us. Conscience doesn't get a seat at that table. And the only deal-breaker is playing fair. Yet here I am. On social media. Social networking, for me, has been a good thing so far; especially on IG. I've come across genuinely good-hearted beings. I've learned so much from them. And I continue to learn, it's never-ending. Learn, learn some more, learn how and what to unlearn, learn something new to replace what was unlearned. Jesus. It is a LOT. Learner till I die. Whether I like it or not. (That got dark real quick ) Even from the ones who are only my friends in my head, so many puppies I can't even tell you (they don't know I exist). I've collaborated with kind creative souls, I've had countless conversations with once-strangers-now-friends (something I don't do in real life; I don't voluntarily approach absolute strangers unless they've been vetted by people I trust) and I don't mean small talk, I mean real talk.  Not deep-what-is-life talk (although that happens too lolwa) but genuine-what-we-actually-want-to-know-and-say talk. You get it. Real. I've also come across many individuals, the opinions of whom I just cannot see eye-to-eye with (I feel like this sentence is especially grammatically incorrect )  Spaces where I made a quick exit and refused to be nasty because what is the point of that really?🤷🏽‍♀️ I know how to leave when I start to get affected negatively by exposure to all things online. I know how to stay away until I'm in the right state of mind. I return because the good still outweighs the bad for me. So far. (Also because I'm slightly addicted 🤦🏽‍♀️) Also because I am somewhat of a recluse in real life and this one social media platform seems like a doable balancing act to me. Anyway, once my blog is up I'll stop ranting in longform on IG. Maybe. Lolwa. ReplyForward
